SUMMARY

A team building workshop was held at Chalmers University of Technology from Oct 24-26.2021 The event was organized in a hybrid format to allow all ESRs to attend, irrespective of travel restrictions. 11+1 ESRs attended in person, 4 ESRs attended online. In addition, the following staff attended in person: Christian Müller (Chalmers), Besira Mihiretie (Hotdisk), Riccardo Rurali & Mariano Campoy-Quiles (ICMAB), Dorothea Scheunemann (Heidelberg) and Simone Fabiano (Linköping).

Day 1. The ESRs who participated in person arrived during the afternoon of Oct 24 and met for the first time during a dinner event.

During Day 2 the ESRs participated in several team building exercises and attended lectures about personality and team-work preferences for which they had in advance prepared via questionnaires (Myers-Briggs Type Indicators, Belbin Team Roles). In addition, the ESRs presented their projects and participated in a lab tour at Chalmers.

During Day 3 the ESRs attended lectures given live or via Zoom by five supervisors from the different beneficiaries of HORATES: Prof. Jana Zaumseil (Heidelberg), Prof. Jan-Anton Koster (Groningen), Prof. Christian Müller (Chalmers), Dr. Besira Mihiretie (Hotdisk) and Prof. Martijn Kemerink (Heidelberg). These lectures introduced the ESRs to different classes of materials that they will encounter during their studies (carbon nanotubes, conjugated polymers, molecular dopants), provided an introduction to thermoelectrics and electrical charge transport theory, and introduced techniques that permit to measure the thermal conductivity.
